Butterfly Collection

Beautiful Butterflies on Silk. These were painted over a number of weeks for a specific purpose. Many were commissioned for teachers who work with the Aura-Soma colour system and the Aura-Soma Butterfly Essences.

Colour Wheel Variations

Samples of the varieties of colours we can create on silks. The colour wheel or colour star shows the interrelationship between the three primary colours, blue, yellow and red, and how they can be used in various combinations to create the secondary and tertiary colours. The samples here show twelve colours. In sequence and gradation of colour, as we begin with red, we then progress through coral, orange, gold, yellow, olive green, green, turquoise, blue, royal blue, violet and magenta. Of course, there are many variations that can be made from the combinations of colours. The 'bright' or vibrabt colours are known as the 'hue'. The dilution of the hue, in varying quantities, enables the delicacy of the pastel colours to emerge.

In Process on Frame Images of various products in the production phase on the frame. The silk is stretched taut on an adjustable frame. If a design is being created, it is marked out in self fading pen before being outlined in a resist which creates a barrier to prevent the flow of the paint. Once complete, each individual item is laid flat on paper, and  rolled around a steel rod, one layer at a time. The rod will hold around ten layers. It is then placed in a steamer  for approximately 2 hours, during which time the heat penetrates the layers and 'fixes' the dyes, making them permanent. This process is also required for the ribbons, each of which is laid out individually as seen in the images.
Wall Hangings

Wall Hangings come in a variety of sizes, usually between 1 - 2metres in length and 50cms - 110cms in width. Inspiration comes from many sources, but I am particularly inspired by the colour and variety of the natural world. I try to capture the essence or the living presence within nature as I explore its many and diverse facets on silk.

Commissioned Works

Commissioned works: Most of these works are what I term 'Soul Cloths'. After consultation with the client, they are created as a result of a meditative process whereby images, colours and symbols are revealed. These are then placed in the most harmonious design, the resonance of which is in alignment with the soul purpose of the client. Everything contained within the cloth has significance - the symbols, images, placements and colours. In combination they create a unique vibrational work of art. Many of my clients have been deeply touched by the energies that emanate from these pieces and have used them in their healing/teaching rooms or well being centres as a means of supporting their work. Other uses include framed art work, wall hanging, table cover, meditation cloth, worn on the body, placed on a personal altar.
